My favorite book is gone from the shelf - The one I loved to read and reread,
And in whose characters and prose
I always delighted.

Even though I didn’t read it that often
Its phrases and turns of plot
often filled my mind
And illuminated my day.

There is a gap on my bookshelf now.
And I’ll not be reading that book again.
